Nick is currently CTO of the Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult in Newport, South Wales. He is leading the Catapult’s technology teams focusing on power electronics, RF & microwave, photonics and advanced packaging. Nick’s career in electronics and semiconductors started in France in the mid-nineties after completing his PhD in Plasma Physics from the University of Toulouse. He joined Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology in Bristol, where he was involved in the development of deposition and etching tools and processes for Si, III-Vs and High K Dielectrics. He subsequently joined Scienta Omicron as CTO where his team developed solutions for OLEDs, Graphene and XPS. For the past 15 years, Nick has held CTO roles in SMEs, Technology Startups and Scaleups including CTO of PhotonFirst, Dutch pioneer of PIC-sensing solutions in the PhotonDelta ecosystem. Nick has over two decades experience in technology development and new product introductions having worked in France, Sweden, Netherlands, USA and China.

He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), holds 4 patents and has authored numerous papers.
